Film Slows It Down: Why Your Wedding Weekend Deserves More Than One Day of Photos

A Sarasota celebration full of color, connection, and candid moments on 35mm film

Gabby & Ryan’s Sarasota celebration captured on 35mm + 120 film

There’s something that happens the night before a wedding… a shift. The nerves start to build, people start arriving, and the full experience begins. That’s why I love offering wedding weekend film photography to document everything from the wild karaoke moments to the quiet ones you’ll want to remember forever.

For Gabby and Ryan’s Sarasota wedding weekend, I captured everything, from karaoke night to DIY florals and the full celebration at the Powel Crosley Estate, on film. It wasn’t just a wedding day. It was an entire experience, and film photography brought every moment to life with warmth, texture, and honesty.

What Is Wedding Weekend Photography?

Spoiler: It’s so much more than a timeline

More time, more memories

A wedding weekend includes everything that happens around the wedding day — welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, pre-wedding hangs, brunches, late-night dancing, and all the in-between magic. You’re not rushing. You’re living it. And I’m there to document the whole thing.

For Gabby and Ryan, that meant starting with a karaoke bachelorette party full of loud singing, good food, and core memory energy. The next day was spent surrounded by their closest people building bouquets at a DIY flower bar. It was relaxed, personal, and actually REALLY fun.

Why Wedding Weekend Film Photography Tells the Full Story

Relaxed. Real. Unfiltered.

Wedding weekend photography slows things down and that’s a good thing

I shoot on 35mm and 120 film, which means every frame matters. There’s no rapid-fire clicking. It’s intentional. It’s thoughtful. It’s exactly what a weekend like this deserves.

Film naturally softens everything. It leans into light, motion, color, and the little details that make big feelings. It doesn’t demand perfection. It lets you be.

It feels like how it felt

You know when you look at old photos and they feel warm in your hands? That’s what film does, but right now. Wedding weekend film photography makes your images feel less posed and more lived-in. Like you’re remembering them, not just seeing them.

Don’t Let the Best Moments Live in the Group Chat

Hire a professional to tell the full story

You’ve planned more than a wedding, you’ve planned a full experience. But most couples only have professional photos from one day. Why?

Your phone is great for selfies, but it can’t tell a story like a documentary-style film gallery can. When you hire a pro for your wedding weekend, you get:

  • Coverage of the moments no one else thinks to capture
  • Candid, emotional, and story-driven images
  • A consistent, artful look across all your events
  • Peace of mind that nothing important will be missed

Let your guests be guests. I’ll handle the memories.

From Knoxville to Sarasota and Beyond

Available for travel, always down for a story

I’m based in Knoxville, Tennessee, but I travel wherever the celebration takes me. Whether it’s a tropical escape like Gabby and Ryan’s, a mountaintop weekend in the Smokies, or something totally your own – I’ll be there with film in hand, ready to document it all.
